I AM LOVED

Abilities/Skills: Using them to Bless Others

Verse: “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.” 1 Peter 4:10-11

Story: This past weekend was my sister-in-law’s baby shower. Although I couldn’t make it to the event because I live in Spain- I was still brought to tears when I saw photos of my backyard  transformed into something like that of what you see on a “Baby Shower Goals” Pinterest board.

Praise God, I thought, because for the past few months leading up to this baby shower I’ve listened as my mom shared the planning process and her concerns. My mom (God bless her heart)  is graced with many gifts, but “event planning” is not one that tops that list.

So how did this event come out so exceedingly beautiful?

The help of My Tias. (Spanish word for “Aunts”)

If anyone knows a good party- it’s them. Oftentimes I joke that they need to open an event planning business, but it’s true.

This weekend, my aunt used her creativity and craftiness to come up with all the decoration ideas- providing for them monetarily and assembling them too. My other tia- with her vibrant personality- took charge as MC and game coordinator. My cousin put her photography skills to good use by snapping photos, and my extroverted brother in law greeted those who came early (which really is on-time in Mexican culture- ya tu sabes) while the party planning committee rushed to get ready. There was also a lot of other hands involved, but these are just a few examples.

Truth is, had my family members not stepped in and used their God given gifts the baby shower wouldn’t of been half as successful as it was. Yes, they sacrificed sleep the night before, money, and enjoying the event as an invitee.. They still choose to step up to the plate.

It was a beautiful reminder to not be stingy or shy with our gifts. Afterall, we’re blessed to be a blessing! (it’s like a cycle- you get blessed, and your job is to pay those blessings forward when prompted to by the Holy Spirit).

God promises us in Proverbs 11:25 “Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered”.

From my heart to yours,

Grace
